The Technical Project Manager (TPM) works closely with Powerley’s software engineering team to create the next generation of home energy management products, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, within scope, and of the highest overall quality. As a TPM at Powerley you will be responsible for managing project plans while ensuring work is prioritized and communicated to the team and remove blockers to allow the team to work efficiently on their tasks.
As a TPM, in addition to working with the development team, you’ll also be responsible for proper documentation of work, including tracking of tasks, bugs and stories, managing workflows and being an excellent communicator to both the internal software development team and internal and external stakeholders. As a leader in the successful development and delivery of work, wou will be able to identify and forecast company and project ‘fire drills’ and potential disasters before they happen.
As Powerley is moving quick, this individual must be able to quickly launch new features and functionality. Finally, the Project Manager must have a desire to work together with a passionate team to help solve complex problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the software development process internally within Powerley, including bringing to the table expertise and best practices on various development methodologies
- Manage project plans to scope, identifying and implementing corrective action plans to meet scope, time, and cost constraints
- Maintain technical project documentation, including updating of requirements, file locations, calendar support, prepare and distribute minutes, follows up on any next steps to assure completion
- Lead project teams through all the project phases and guide team in prioritizing work based upon knowledge of customer requirements, project schedule, and various dependencies
- Document APIs and technical architecture of components for internal and third-party use
- Lead multiple projects of varying complexity concurrently, which can include virtual team members, strong understanding of MS Office Suite, include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or related field
- Prior project management experience, with a focus in the software space and Agile methodology
- Excellent documentation skills to be able to clearly understand the project requirements, translating into technical tasks and working with the team to ensure clarity
- Knowledge of project management tools, such as MS Project or JIRA
- Ability to manage resources, both internal and external, for purposes of resource planning and forecasting
